Capacity depends on the age of the gearbox, I think. The older boxes had an "added" fifth gear which was slightly above the rest and needed a bit more oil for lubrication. I had an '86 Talbot which used 2.7 litres. I can't tell you when the configuration changed, but I'm about to put 2.7 litres into my W-reg 2.8 The gearbox was redesigned in 2001 from memory, if reverse is left and up then it's the later box that doesn't suffer fifth gear failures. If reverse is right and down then it's the earlier box that has been known to suffer.
