Then the engine management light comes on and goes into limp mode with the orange engine check It appears the blower resistor pack has failed or become unseated. It can be disturbed by a foot. The resistor pack is in the negative line to the motor. On position 4 the resistor pack is bypassed whilst on positions 1 - 3 a different resistor is inserted to limit the current and make the motor run slower.
